It does? This is news to me. I see no reference to such action in
the sftp-server (8) manual page. A quick test of connecting to a
computer via sftp reveals that ``cd /etc'' works just fine, and a
subsequent ``get passwd'' works exactly as expected.
I'd be very interested to know just what you did to get a chrooted
sftp-server working.
