This is more of an opinion question, but what type of CPU would you buy to

Ugh, this is horribly OT

This brings up a question I've had for a while: is it really OT? Or, to put it differently, is there a more appropriate forum for questions regarding hardware on which to run OpenBSD? With all due respect to Mr. Goren, STFA doesn't work if these threads don't come up frequently: the hardware just changes too fast & that great Cheapotron XL-99 10/100 card with the 21143 chip from 2 months ago may be shipping under the same name with a Realtek 8009 Lite chip now.

I have a client who keeps saying they're going to buy a server any day now. They've been on the verge of purchasing it for 6 months now & since the original quote, processors have gotten faster, become unsupported by the motherboard I spec'ed, & become supported again. The motherboard in question is an MSI K7 Master. I'm going to have to spec a newer model if they don't buy soon & I'm likely to ask for suggestions here if I don't know of a better place to ask.
