Further to my previous posting.
The (OpenBSD) router now seems to be talking to the network again. (and at
100baseT) I added a WinXP box to the network and all is fine with that
machine (dhcp even). So, perhaps the problem wasn't OpenBSD's fault after
all.
...however, I'm still perplexed on the issue of the transparent proxy. I've
searched the mailing lists and have drawn a blank as far as the new versions
of OpenBSD/squid are concerned.
I suppose my .sig might be considered heresey on these groups - maybe that's
why I got no replies. :-) I'll just say this: I recommended OpenBSD over
linux for the firewall/VPN router operating system. Before installing this
machine, my only *nix experience was Mandrake Linux. OpenBSD is a lot easier
to understand and set up. Not to mention it being more secure...
