Samba compilation problem

Hi All,

I have Openbsd 3.1 installed. I downloaded samba 2.2.3a of openbsd's website. I tried to run smbstatus I get the following error message:

Samba version 2.2.3a
Service uid gid pid machine
----------------------------------------------

tdb((null)): tdb_open_ex: could not open file /var/spool/samba/brlock.tdb: No such file or directory
Failed to open byte range locking database
tdb((null)): tdb_open_ex: could not open file /var/spool/samba/locking.tdb: No such file or directory
ERROR: Failed to initialise locking database
Can't initialise locking module - exiting

Then I went and download samba of their main page version 2.2.1. configure went ok, then halfway down the make, i get the following message:
Compiling smbd/vfs-wrap.c
Compiling smbd/statcache.c
Compiling smbd/posix_acls.c
Compiling smbd/process.c
Compiling smbd/service.c
gcc: Internal compiler error: program cc1 got fatal signal 11
*** Error code 1

Then I went and installed gcc 3.0.3 and ran make on samba, I got the following error message:
Compiling libsmb/credentials.c
Compiling libsmb/pwd_cache.c
Compiling libsmb/passchange.c
Compiling libsmb/unexpected.c
Compiling rpc_parse/parse_prs.c
Compiling rpc_parse/parse_sec.c

Thank you ( forgive me if this is not the right mailing list)
