remote syslog kosherness

Very short *nix question from someone who doesn't use remote syslog much. Slightly OT, although OpenBSD is the only *nix I use.

Is it kosher to use syslog to remote (remote as being over T1/frac./56k) subnets? I assume high volume would cause bandwidth issues, but is it something that's considered "ok" to do in general?
