I installed and configured X, and ran it by typing 'startx'. It worked.
I managed to install Blackbox, but ran into problems installing it.
When I type 'blackbox', it says:
'BaseDisplay::BaseDisplay: connection to X server failed.'
I found a potential fix, and copied 'Xsession' from
'/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm' to '~/.xsession'.
Then I edited '.xsession' to say 'blackbox' instead of 'fvwm' at the
end.
I tried 'startx' after that and it just loaded what looked like to be
normal X, so tried 'blackbox' and it gave the same error.
I also found various help topics saying I should start 'xdm' at boot
time. Is this where my problem lies?
Just wandering around all this,
PatHaugen
