Alex Holst pointed me to this message in the archive that covers
questions of hardware with the possible exception of changes due to 3.0:

Now the question comes down to whether the OBSD setup can approach the
Cisco firewall in performance. I think I could make a convincing
argument if it can be at least around 70% as fast. I realize there are
many variables. Does anyone have any real idea of this performance in
any setup?
