simplifying user maintenance

Hello,

in at least one point, M$ with their Exchange server has a big advantage
over *nix: you can define users at just one place which gives you much
more control and eases things a lot.

Under Unix, I have the adduser script, to create & configure QMail accounts,
add them to some MySQL database for PHP-based intranet CMS and more.

Is there a way to ease things and to reduce user maintenance tasks to a 
minimum?
