Hey all,
I'm trying to run sendmail 8.11.4 as part of 2.9-stable and am
receiving error messages similar to:
>Mar 5 00:16:48 laptop sendmail[12876]: starting daemon (8.10.1):
>SMTP+queueing_(_at_)_00:30:00
>Mar 5 00:16:48 laptop sendmail[12876]: NOQUEUE: SYSERR(root):
>opendaemonsocket: daemon MTA6: can't create server SMTP socket:
>Protocol not supported
>Mar 5 00:16:48 laptop sendmail[12876]: daemon MTA6: problem creating
>SMTP socket
>Mar 5 00:16:48 laptop sendmail[12876]: NOQUEUE: SYSERR(root):
>opendaemonsocket: daemon MTA6: server SMTP socket wedged: exiting
NOTE: I don't get the notice about wedged socket, but I get "optional
socket disabled". I found this example in the mailing lists with the
following fix posted.
>You should have an /etc/mail/sendmail-IPv4only.cf file. Merge your
>current sendmail.cf changes (if any) into this file, then copy it to
>/etc/mail/sendmail.cf.

It turns out that I am getting this since I have removed IPv6 from my
kernel. I have looked for the file mentioned here
"/etc/mail/sendmail-IPv4only.cf" but it doesn't exist on my system.
Anyone have any ideas how I can build and configured sendmail to not
use IPv6 cleanly.
Thanks,
Keehan
