ide cd-writer troubles

when i do:
# cdrecord -scanbus
i get: cannot open scsi device; no such file or directory.
it says its at scsi0 lun0 blah blah.
i tried cdrecord -v dev=0,0,0 -inq but it didn't work.
what is going on? it's an openbsd package, so it should work. anyone help? i'll give dmesg output if you need it.
