Well I got the new kernel home, but can't install it.
The new CD-Rom drive isn't IDE, but some proprietary interface via the sound
card, I think. So I can't mount it. I was able to get networking up in
single user mode, so tomorrow I'll try FTP'ing it down to the box and
installing the new kernel that way.
Guess I'll make another pass commenting stuff out, since I have something to
shoot for now.

Well, 2.6 MB isn't bad. My production kernels are about 1.2 MB ;-)) There's
usually lot's of stuff you can uncomment in /usr/src/sys/conf/GENERIC,
especially all the emulations if you don't need them.
