How well is ccd tested/raid

Yo yo yO:

I am working on a new server.  Its gonna do web/database
serving.  
I have 4 20gig drives that I wanted to ccd and make one
80gig but that would make the root partition part of the
ccd array.  This is going to be a production machine.. how
well has ccd been tested?  Can you use ccd for the root
partition (why not ccd will be loaded my the kernel before
mount any partitions, right?).
or maybe:
2 30gig drives raid 1 for the root partition
2 30gig drives ccd for the data partition(will hold all
database files)

The goal is to have... size speed and stability
apache php mysql-php-odbc=windows machine
