mail error messages

Hi all, The following messages kept apprearing on my system. I have
disabled sendmail in rc.conf. Thus I am not sure why such messages keep
appearing. Could it be because I did not have a valid hostname? Thanks in
advance. 

May 31 01:31:01 noname sendmail[9731]: unable to qualify my own domain
name (noname) -- using short name

May 31 01:31:10 noname sendmail[31261]: My unqualified host name (noname)
unknown; sleeping for retry
