Newbie NIC issue

Subject: Newbie NIC issue

I just installed openbsd 2.8 and had only one NIC installed. The
installation went ok and now I just got a second nic. I installed the nic
and created a hostname.xxx file and the nic is now up but i still cant ping
that card. Is there anything I forgot to do because I can ping the other
card using another machine on the network but not the new one I just
installed. thanks for any help possible.
