Hi all,
i'm new with openbsd but the cd-rom problem on Dell System seems
- to me - to be quite generic, because during the install from
the 2.8 CD , the system said something like "cannot find CDROM"
and i had to install from FTP.
but the dmesg seems to echo a CD ROM drive after the installation :
cd0 at scsibus0 targ 0 lun 0: <SAMSUNG, CD-ROM SC-140B, d003> SCSI0
5/cdrom removable
cd0: can use 32-bit, PIO mode 4, DMA mode 2, Ultra-DMA mode 2
my Dell system is a Dell Precision 410 from december 1999.
From my new-user point of view, apparently i can't mount any CD
with a command like (man page):
$ mount -t cd9660 -r /dev/cd0a /mnt/cdrom

Hello,
I have a Dell Dimension P75t (Using P133mhz chip) w/40mb RAM. It has
two hard drives on IDE channel 0 and a Samsung 32x CD player on IDE channel
1 set as master. The openbsd floppy28.fs image does not seem to detect
this drive nor does a full ftp install with 'generic release'. I had a
friend update the kernel to 'generic stable' from the CVS tree. I will try
most anything to get this device to work but please be patient with me as I
am new to openbsd. I should also add that the cd-rom is picked up by a
ms-dos boot disk with generic cdrom.sys driver and mscdex.exe.
Sincerely,
Rob
