sshd dns lookup failed

I have my local machine id's in /etc/hosts on each machine,
but ssh is still giving me this error when I connect
to the firewall.  It seems to be the only machine that
does this.  anyone?

This error msg would not be so bad, if it didn't take
forever to timeout.
