That's another occurance of the problem I described in PR #1501.
For some reason ncr(4) probes all LUNs of the disk drive and
generates a lot of error messages.
Also a 390F in my case, but a different disk.

Right. Those error messages are usually harmless since the disk
_is_ recognized correctly at LUN 0, however:
"This problem is rendered serious because it disables the installation
floppy. The installation/upgrade script determines the available
disk drives by grepping through the message buffer. The excessive
error messages from above cause the message buffer to overflow, so
the message lines with the detected disks are already gone, and the
installation script doesn't find any available disks."
