Re: testing for 2.8

Twice now in the past I've seen a condition with post 2.7 snapshots where
my ThinkPad 1480i has become very sluggish, having lost nearly all the

It's happened again, with the Oct 17th snapshot. I checked with the Dnet
client doing a benchmark, and it reports doing about 165K keys a second,
down from its normal 1.3M keys/s. So this does seem to be something
effecting the speed of the CPU somehow, which given that its a laptop,
feels maybe like an APM problem?

The laptop is running now. I let it run last night continuously pinging a
new OpenBSD box I've made, and then found the slowness this morning.
If it hasn't changed any, I'll have something to look at tonight.

Any ideas on what to look for? A part of me wonders if this could have
anything to do with the fact that I've switched between PCMCIA ethernet
and modem cards. I'm going to see if I can figure anything out, but I'm
open to ideas on this. It doesn't seem to happen often but is obviously
annoying when it happens.

For what its worth a dmesg with the modem card installed follows.
