must correct myself... setting HIGH_SLACK_LINE seemed to help, but today i
saw the error again...
The only thing helped was to comment out
#define CHECK_FD_SETSIZE
in ap_config.h - i'm not sure if this really is a good idea, maybe 1772
isn't just the right value for HIGH_SLACK_LINE?

Hi,
answering my own question:
setting HIGH_SLACK_LINE in ap_config.h to 1772 (sysctl -a | grep maxfile)
solves the prob.
