The Sparc 5 is a old machine with SBUS not PCI (sun4m).
The Ultra 5 is a newer machine with PCI (sun4u).
I'm actually running 2.6 on a Sparc 5 and it runs okay, the disk i/o is
kinda slow when I'm really using the disk.

But if you've got a PII around, use that. It will be faster. I'm going to
be replacing my Sparc 5 with a intel box (Celeron II, 7200RPM IDE drive, etc).
