i'm trying to install of of the 2 latest snapshots on a compaq deskpro
5100 and various odd things are happening, including the the onboard
ethernet is no longer detected.
Sep 6. as soon as the kernel finishes loading the system silently
reboots. 'boot> -c' doesn't help any. it prints the entry point,
Aug 24 kernel loads and boots. no ethernet is detected. just out of
curiousity, i've tried disabling 'pcibios' but that didn't help
either. the pci bus is detected like this:
pci0 at mainbus0 bus 0: configuration mode 2
a 2.7 floppy detects the ethernet controller thus:
le1 at pci0 dev 11 function 0 "AMD 79c970 PCnet-PCI LANCE" rev 0x02
le1: address 00:80:5f:9c:de:fc
le1: 8 receive buffers, 2 transmit buffers
le1: interrupting at irq 10
the rest of the dmesg is probably in the archives (memory detection
issues). at least this machine detects and uses all the memory.
