in basically all my machines, I have 3com 3c905Bs. The same thing happens in
every single machine, GENERIC or custom kernel. hmmm.....

Subject: NIC strangeness
Hi there.
I'm setting up a Compaq Deskpro with 3 identical NIC's (3Com 3c905B), and
all three cards works out of the box.
The strange thing is that I get the following messages from the kernel durin
boot or via dmesg.
As you can se two of the NIC's behave diffeently. Anyone know what this mean
or how to correct it?
Clipping from dmesg output:
xl0 at pci0 dev 2 function 0 "3Com 3c905B 100Base-TX" rev 0x30: irq 11xl0:
command never completed!
address 00:01:02:a4:6a:2d
exphy0 at xl0 phy 24: 3Com internal media interface
xl0: command never completed!
xl1 at pci0 dev 3 function 0 "3Com 3c905B 100Base-TX" rev 0x64: irq 11
address 00:50:da:b1:15:08
ukphy0 at xl1 phy 24: Generic IEEE 802.3u media interface
ukphy0: OUI 0x001018, model 0x0012, rev. 0
xl2 at pci0 dev 4 function 0 "3Com 3c905B 100Base-TX" rev 0x30: irq 11xl2:
command never completed!
address 00:10:5a:df:b1:a4
exphy1 at xl2 phy 24: 3Com internal media interface
xl2: command never completed!
TIA,
Henrik.
