I also have problems with mount locking up the machine...

2.7 failed to install from the CDROM.
I remember seeing a (blue) scsi timeout message
long after the lock-up but could not reproduce it again
after I installed 2.7 from a DOS partition.

the mount program stilll locks the machine though!
for a few minutes it acceps keystrokes (and switching to
other consoles) but then it locks completely.
