FTP locks up? [followup / more info]

	Some more info I forgot to put in the last message (sorry 'bout that):
when I telnet to port 21 on the server (from the server, or from the
client; it doesn't matter), the connection is accepted, but almost
always, no output arrives at all from the daemon, including the greeting
message.

	I also installed imap (from the packages tree), and see the same
behaviour there, although it was pre-existing in FTP before I installed
imap.
