netscape's weird behaviour

[DVK <dvk_(_at_)_toolbuilders_(_dot_)_com>]

When I try running netscape off of xterm it spits out weird characters 
to the terminal, messes up up and never starts. This only happens on
my new custom kernel. Is there some option you know of I am forgeting?
