it seems that the earliest version of PGPlib (which runs on top
of SSLeay/OpenSSL) PGPlib-0.0 was released under a BSD license.
this could probably be quite easily hacked up to at least verify PGP
2.x signed files. maybe useful?
I found one old archive .. but lost it again :-(
