I suspect it's a DNS issue. My firewall is completely independant of any
DNS servers. All hosts listed in nat.rules and ipf.rules have /etc/hosts
entries. And the box does no DNS lookups at all even though for a while
it used to host 3 instances of bind 8.1. I have not experienced any
slowdowns but then again, I don't exactly reboot the box very often.
