Alpha ARC-Console and dead batteries mystery solved

Just for the record:

I was complaining about my ARC console not working and thought it was
the fault of the 3.8 update disks.

It was not.

Arc just won't start if your NVRAM/TOY battery is low/dead.

I got a direct relpacement for the battery. For all those from
Germany: Conrad Electronic sells 4.5V batteries in the same case as
the one from DEC for DM 20,-. Seems fair.
