I don't get that annoying fifo overflow now.

I don't get annoying fifo overflow, but now I get message 
ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyb
modem hangup
connection terminated.

It used to connect once in a while, now it doesn't at all, the script is
the same as before.

I upgraded to 2.3 kernel and userland.

What did I do wrong???
