Thanks to everybody who responded.  After a little searching, I was able to
run the 3com setup utility (I got the cards without the software). I
also put

ep0 at isa? port ? irq ?
ep1 at isa? port ? irq ?
ep2 at isa? port ? irq ?

in my kernel config and everything worked fine.
