2.2 --> -current, Perl problem

I recently re-installed 2.2 for Sparc and did a "make build".
The only problem I noticed was on the perl build:
the make stopped in perl/x2ph with a message about unable to
make ../.config/README  .
When I created the directory perl/.config , the process continued.
