Well, with the current config 'BuildCyrillicFonts' is set to NO for
non-i386 machines, so make World won't build it :-). I'll fix that.
I suppose I should also enable the Koi8 encoding for those fonts ?
(it's not enabled by the OpenGroup's default config, but enabled in xfree86
i386 specific config)

It is OK to use tar. 'extract' is a modified gnutar that is linked
against libz and automatically uses the right extraction options when
called as 'extract'. It's source is available on:
