2.2 Cd and Booting i386

Hello,
   I am currently trying to boot the 2.2 cd on a Hp Pavillion 7285, pent
200, 32 mb ram 3 gig hd, w/ win95, nt, and a gig of freespace. The cd is
a 8X Goldstar GCD580b atapi that has been set to primary on secondary
ide and slave on primary.  The cd will not boot in either configuration
nor will the floopy image from the cd.  I also have the 2.1 cd which
will boot in any configuration. all i get it is what looks like two mem
addresses overlapping and scrolling.  bios are current and support cd
boot. Anyone have any thoughts??
