Can I teach X about securelevel

I'm still using xf86 3.2 that I built under 2.0.  However, it does
not work if the security level is raised.  Is there some magic to
get it to use /dev/xf86, or do I just have to run in an "insecure"
mode?  Kernel compiled with INSECURE option.
