By using a PCI IDE card instead of the on-board IDE, I can boot
using MP kernel after disabling isadma. X also starts.

However, there is a problem with the PS2 keyboard stopping to
respond, and pressing NumLock or CapsLock does not make the
indicators light up. By plugging in an USB keyboard after the PS2
keyboard stopped working, I was able to type again for a short while.

The mouse is working even when the keyboard is not responding, so
I'm able to browse using Firefox.

Disabling devices in BIOS or moving the PCI IDE card to another
PCI slot did not help with the keyboard problem.
