3.0 i386 mouse

hello,

i just installed 3.0 release.
after using xf86config i started the standard desktop.
everything allright but the mouse is going totally crazy like the speed is set to 100000000%.

i have a voodoo3 2000 pci and the intellimouse explorer (ps2) configured with 1280x1024 60hz 16bit.
i've done the xf86config procedure dozens of times, i think i didn't make a fault.
