[Announcement] openbsd-java

The OpenBSD-Java mailing list now operational.  This list co-ordinates the OpenBSD-Java project, which is attempting to implement/port a Java2 Standard Edition developers kit/runtime to OpenBSD.  This is a developers/porters list, so please bear this in mind when asking questions.  We are keeping it open for now, as many have an interest in openbsd-java, but if traffic gets unbearable and off topic, we will move to a closed list with an -announce alternate.

Also bear in mind that no significant progress has yet been made (or at least reported).  This is a project in its infancy, for all the discussion that we have had to date.  Hopefully we can make decent strides, but if you're merely interested in using Java2, then I suggest you not subscribe until February/March, as we will likely have more to say then.

In the mean-time, a Java2 (1.2pre2-linux) version has been submitted to the ports tree, so hopefully some kind soul will commit it for those who would like to play with Java2 right away.  It's a bit unstable, but you'll get your fix.
