sparc SCSI CD question

Something changed in the last 10 months or so :-)  I've noticed
that with a CD loaded my sparc scsi cd drive constantly flashes
its busy indicator, even with the CD unmounted.  It didn't used
to do this, but I must admit that I can only say that for sure
for 2.2!  I don't think I've looked at the damn drive since then.

Software?  Hardware?  The drives seems to work OK.  The flashing
is approx 2 sec on/2 sec off.
