partial kernel regression with bsd.mp.i386

i386;OpenBSD 3.5-current (GENERIC) #50: Fri Jun 11 09:07:23 MDT 
2004;Dual PIII850 \w VIA-chipset;512MB, boots ok, runs cvsup and firefox 
just fine

* it boots until it finds fdc0, after that it hangs for a moment and 
then starts to flood the console with:

it continues to boot up but at an incredible slow speed (takes some 
25minutes or so).
after disabling apm with config(8) it boots up without a problem (dmesg 
is with disabled apm) - this looks like a regression because "OpenBSD 
3.5-current (GENERIC.MP) #18: Wed Jun  9 12:40:26 MDT 2004" worked fine 
on the same hardware ...
