problem with aac running on Dell PE 2400 (Perc 2/Si)

I've come across an issue with the Perc 2/Si (aac) RAID controller I'm
running on OPENBSD_2_9.

It works well for the most part, however, occasionally I get a message like
May 17 09:37:25 bsdhost /bsd: sd0(aac0:0:0): timed out

On a couple of occasions, this has led to a stream of
sd0(aac0:0:0): timed out
messages appearing on the console, and the system becomes nonresponsive (no
disk access at all)

Has anyone else experienced this ? I'm sorry to say as a non-programmer I
don't have anything to offer other than a prepaid pizza and/or
troubleshooting time.

I know the aac driver is in active development for the FreeBSD project
(where the code
originated); perhaps some of these changes could be incorporated into the
OBSD driver ?

dmesg follows (this is a Dell PowerEdge 2400):
