i386 mbr problem, again

Hi,

   What exactly causes the "broken MBR" error in installboot?
I've run across this several times.  The last time I got
this, I reran fdisk starting the partition on an even boundary, 
rather than just at offset 63.  I just got this message
now while trying to install under vmware, and tried the
same fix, but I'm still getting broken MBR messages.
I also cant boot the hd0 kernel from a floppy boot> prompt.
