Stock 2.6-RELEASE floppy26.fs works just fine.  Instead of the panic:
message, I see the CD-ROM being identified.

I haven't grabbed any newer snapshots since I first tested.  I'll put in
an IDE hard disk to get going, and see what happens...  later this week,
though.
