ranlib and builds
I'm curious why when install libraries we install it 0600, ranlib it, then
chmod the file to $LIBMODE. why not just run ranlib on the file as it's
sitting in /usr/obj and then install it into /usr/lib? The manpage for
ranlib doesn't give me any reason to think this wouldn't be ok. Can
someone enlighten me?
Thanks.
