i build my system just fine using those pieces from their respective ports
(skipping the supplied ones)

i already stated why ntop-2.x is nice and possibly worth the effort:
- Netflow v5 generation
- RMON module
- sFlow module
i haven't seen any free tool do this (if i'm mistaken, please tell me). i
am quite disappointed with the stability of ntop 2 and the threading (as
you seem to be), but i think with some work it could be suitable for use.
the gains seem to be worthwhile, at least to me.
