Alpha Fails to boot.

I've installed a snapshot as of a couple of days ago on my alpha EB164,
and I cannot get the machine to boot from the disk. (It boots fine from
the cd or the floppy) From what I can tell of reading the source, it gets
as far as loadfile and dies in the open statement with an EINVAL.
Any ideas why this happens? Can anyone at least give me a hint?

I can read code, but I really don't know what goes on in the boot process.
I tried redoing the installboot from teh bootfloppy, but it does nothing.
The boot disk is dka0. Any pointers would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
  Nathan

sda0 is laid out as follows: (it is a 2GB disk)
# size offset fstype [fsize bsize cpg]
  a: 262017 63 4.2BSD 1024 8192 16
  b: 262080 262080 swap
  c: 4110480 0 unused 0 0
  d: 262080 524160 4.2BSD 1024 8192 16
  e: 262080 786240 4.2BSD 1024 8192 16
  f: 3062160 1048320 4.2BSD 1024 8192 16

The boot sequence follows:

>>>boot dka0
(boot dka0.0.0.9.0 -file bsd -flags -a)
block 0 of dka0.0.0.9.0 is a valid boot block
