NAT lookups?

I recently installed NAT to get my array of PC's on the net, sharing my ppp dialup connection.  Everything seems fine except when trying to connect to a server, the lookup of the server seems to take forever.  Is there any fix to speed this up a bit?  Once the server is resolved, downloads are fine... but it's the initial wait that is annoying :)
