I set the hard drive to the LBA setting, and fdisk reports the
geometry as 511/32/63 -- still the 503MB. Had the same problem
with the disklabel editor running out of space on the hard
drive. There is no translated setting inn the BIOS.

BIOS did have a "large" setting for the hard drive. I tried it
and fdisk had the geometry as 1023/32/63 -- which works out
to 1007MB. Close, but not quite. I don't have any other
settings for the hard drive in BIOS.

Won't have any problem with that...I'm going to run only OpenBSD
on the drive.
