I haven't a clue myself, but I certainly appreciate the fact that someone
is interested in helping, thanks for that!

What I will do is hunt around a bit for a ftpd for Debian, and try an
install that way. It would have been nice if ftp.sunsite.org.uk carried
an OpenBSD distribution for public NFS, as they have for NetBSD, FreeBSD
and Linux. An NFS install of NetBSD seemed to work fine, although it took
about 9 hours :) (I didn't hang around to watch)

I agree with your impression of Linux. I don't want to use it as my main
system, becuase the kernel has a lot of errors compiling. However, it's
still a lot of fun to use. FreeBSD is a lot more stable than Linux. From
what I've seen of NetBSD, it is a bit sparse, but the install is pretty
straightforward. From what I saw, OpenBSD does have quite a few nice
things included. I would certainly like to try it, and plan to do so.

Again, thanks for your help!
