"entry point at 0x100020" hang on boot.

greetings,

i just slapped a new serial port card into an intel 2.3 system and it was
fine, i reconfigured the kernel, compiled it, installed it, and rebooted.
nothing. it hangs on "entry point at 0x100020" and does nothing but
access the disk a little after that.

the old kernel at hd0a:bsd.old doesn't do any differently. the one at
bsd.generic doesn't work either. any thoughts? :(

i've yanked the card out thinking it may have been that, to no avail.
i've been powering the machine totally off each time, and checked my
cables and simms.

it passes memory tests fine in the bios, disk "tests" too. that entry
point is where it says it starts too.

any thoughts?
