It does have 2 controllers since linux on an exact same laptop
finds the CD fine. The port and irq settings in the GENERIC config
are the same as what linux found them at. This is a Toshiba 550CDT 
and even on a power cycle, wdc1 is still not found. (though 
win95 finds it without a problem)

If you have anything to try, I'll try it. I'm at a loss
here unless anyone else has a 550CDT that works.
